Our current environmental crisis calls for medicine (unfortunately it’s too late for prevention!) and sometimes laughter is the best medicine. It is with the wisdom of an old toad, however, that we proceed from (sometimes hysterical!) laughter to action.
Our Mission:
The Laughing Toad Community Tree Nursery is a not-for-profit organization whose main objective is to grow native, urbanized trees and shrubs for distribution and planting throughout the City of Guelph, in order to ensure a thriving urban forest for future generations.
Ye who would pass by and raise your hand against me,
Harken ‘ere you harm me.
I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights,
The friendly shade screening you from the summer sun;
And my fruits are refreshing draughts quenching your
Thirst as you journey on.
I am the beam that holds your house,
The board of your table,
I am the handle of your hoe, the door of your homestead,
The wood of your cradle, and the shell of your coffin.
I am the gift of God and the friend of man.
Ye who pass by, listen to my prayer …
